The Master in
Education - Analysis and Intervention in Educational Systems

is designed for people who seek the training necessary for research in education and for intervention in education systems, and who would like to work in academic research, inspection/assessment, evaluation, or the design of education programmes. This Master's programme offers courses and an internship that (1) develop students' knowledge of learning processes, teaching methods, educational settings, the functioning of education systems, and education policies; (2) prepare students to design educational intervention measures; (3) reinforce methodological skills (scientific reasoning, assessment, oral and written presentation of results) and guarantee mastery of quantitative and qualitative tools for research in education.

Admission Conditions

A Bachelor of Education. Applicants with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences may also be admitted upon approval by the programme committee and completion of a complementary certificate in education consisting of a tailored curriculum within the Bachelor of Education.

Deadline for Fall Semester for candidates that hold a foreign bachelor's degree: 28 February 2024
(30 April 2024 for candidates that hold a Swiss bachelor's degree at the start of the next academic year AND, according to their nationality, are not subject to a visa for entry into Switzerland for more than 90 days, according to Swiss government requirements and regardless of their current place of residence, or for candidates holding a Swiss residence permit that is valid beyond 30 April.)

Education and society: analysis and practice:

  • Education policies and systems
  • Intercultural relations in education, the sociology of student groups with special needs, etc.
Research preparation (30 credits):
  • Observation of educational and didactic practices
  • Principles and practice of quantitative data analysis
  • Dissertation preparation seminar, etc.

Mobility

Students may go on exchange regardless of how many credits they have completed at the Faculty. A maximum of 30 credits can be acquired outside the Faculty.
