Masters of University of Geneva

The Master in
Learning and Teaching Technologies

aims to equip students with in-depth knowledge in the field of educational technologies and to provide training in the creation of digital environments that meet the needs of the target audience and context. The program of study therefore includes a solid foundation of theoretical and applied knowledge regarding the types of learning and teaching encountered today, the different types of digital environments (multimedia, video games, collaborative Web, digital fabrication) and the elements of digital creation (web languages, authoring tools, prototyping software). Students have the possibility of putting their new knowledge to practical use in the framework of one or more internships.
A particularity of the Master's program is alternating between traditional courses and periods of distance learning, supported by intense tutoring and a project-based approach. This is intended to help students understand the specificities of this new form of teaching and learning by experiencing it themselves throughout their training.

The Master's program is open to holders of a Bachelor's degree in any field whose experiences and goals are aligned with the objectives of the Master's program (admission is based on an application). Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to implement and evaluate e-learning tools, create innovative learning environments, or even manage multimedia educational projects for businesses, educational institutions, and consulting firms. They will also have the possibility of pursuing a doctorate in the field.

The Master in
Psychology

constitutes the second part of basic university education. The aim is to deepen students' knowledge of certain specialist areas of psychology.

Students must choose one of the five course programmes offered for the Master's in Psychology. Depending on which course programme they select, students may also have to opt for one or two concentrations from among the four available, which are affective psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology and social psychology.

The five course programmes are:

  • CLINICAL INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOLOGY, which provides students with training in the many issues that arise in clinical psychology when dealing with children, teenagers, adults or the elderly. The programme takes an integrative, empirical approach, teaching students to consider the multiple factors that must be taken into account in clinical settings
  • HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY, which covers topics such as the psychological causes and consequences of diseases; health promotion and disease prevention; support for patients, their friends and families, and medical staff; and individuals' and society's relationship with the health care system
  • PSYCHOLOGY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, which looks at the factors that prompt individuals to consume, make decisions and behave in a way that can improve our biosystem and people's well-being, both now and for future generations. Students will conduct in-depth analyses of the individual factors influencing sustainability-related behaviour and the strategies that can be adopted to promote this behaviour
  • APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY, which is an open programme offering more general training. Students learn how to apply psychological expertise and methods in various areas, including social and organisational settings (e.g. prejudice, discrimination, equality, psychosocial risks and work-related stress), education and psychogerontology
  • ADVANCED RESEARCH IN PSYCHOLOGY, in which students cover two of the four concentrations (affective, cognitive, developmental and social psychology). It prepares students to become PhD students or research assistants, and ultimately for a career in research
